About

Established as a dedicated government body, the Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs (MoGCA) is the principal agency in Sierra Leone mandated to promote gender equality, empower women and girls, and ensure the protection and holistic development of all children. Its creation and evolution are deeply rooted in the country’s recent history, particularly the aftermath of the civil war (1991-2002), which highlighted profound gender-based violence and child protection crises.
