MoGCA and the Moroccan delegation engage key Institutions on Child Protection and Development.

In a series of strategic engagements today, the Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs (MoGCA), alongside a visiting Moroccan delegation, led high-level courtesy visits to key child-focused institutions in Sierra Leone. The discussions centered on strengthening child protection systems and fostering collaborative programs for children’s development.

The first stop was the National Commission for Children Sierra Leone (NCC), where the delegation engaged with officials on strategies to reinforce child protection mechanisms. The dialogue highlighted roadmap initiatives to tackle pressing issues affecting children and explored future development programs aimed at ensuring every child thrives in a safe and nurturing environment.

Continuing their engagement, the delegation visited UNICEF Sierra Leone, focusing on mental health education and the availability of healthcare services for children. The meeting also emphasized the critical role of the Child Rights Act (CRA) bill in addressing child protection concerns. Stakeholders discussed strategies for establishing psychosocial support systems and enhancing the mental wellbeing of children across the country.

The final courtesy visit for the day was held at the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education SL, where the team, led by MoGCA’s Directorate of Children’s Affairs, deliberated on issues of sexual violence in schools. The meeting provided an opportunity to explore avenues for integrating digital learning, promoting child participation, and ensuring robust child protection policies within the education system.
