MoGCA Bids Emotional Farewell to Chief Director Joseph Sunday Sinnah

The Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs, in a heartfelt ceremony held at its headquarters in Freetown, officially bade farewell to Hon. Chief Director Joseph Sunday Sinnah in recognition of his dedicated service and remarkable leadership.

The event brought together high-profile figures from the ministry, its partners, and civil society organizations, including Minister of Gender and Children’s Affairs Dr. Isata Mahoi, Permanent Secretary Aminata Y. Sannoh, Deputy Minister Hon. Hindowa Bindi, Deputy Secretary Andrew A.B. Kamara, Deputy Chief Director Charles Vandi, and a host of directors, assistant directors, and senior protection officers. Also in attendance were representatives from the Women’s Forum Network, National Commission for Children (NCC), and the Children’s Forum Network (CFN).

Opening the program, Deputy Secretary Andrew A.B. Kamara welcomed attendees to the occasion, setting a reflective tone for the gathering.

In her moving tribute, Philipa Cride-Dole, President of CFN, described Hon. Sinnah as “a man of zest and relentless drive,” particularly noting his unwavering commitment to children’s welfare.

 She lauded his legacy of challenging injustice and elevating children’s issues throughout his tenure. Echoing similar sentiments, a representative from the Women’s Forum praised Sinnah for his robust support of women and children, while NCC’s Deputy Commissioner Henry Sheku highlighted the Chief Director’s “steadfast and unmovable” endurance in promoting children’s affairs.

Deputy Minister Hon. Hindowa Bindi recounted his positive working relationship with Sinnah, calling him “a brother and a true servant of the ministry,” and lauded his motivational spirit and warmth since assuming office. Permanent Secretary Aminata Y. Sannoh offered remarks on behalf of the ministry, acknowledging Sinnah’s invaluable experience and collaborative work dating back to the ministry’s earlier configuration under social welfare.

She wished him a rewarding and fulfilling future. In her keynote remarks, Minister Dr. Isata Mahoi paid glowing tribute to Sinnah’s tireless commitment to public service, stating, “He has committed his lifetime to serving this ministry with passion and resilience, even during difficult times.” She affirmed that Sinnah remains a trusted advisor whose wisdom will continue to guide the ministry. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks from the Director of Children’s Affairs, followed by a group photograph featuring ministry officials, partners, friends, and Sinnah’s family—capturing a moment of appreciation, unity, and sincere farewell.
